To continue the licensing issue. Aside from LOTRO, what was the last MMO that was licensed and was successful?
There was a shit ton of interest in SWG to green light the development on that, and it turned out to be a pile.
Kellzz I hate to disagree but SWG was not a pile due to a poor License. Fact of the matter developed IPs are just easier to develop from due to the wealth of lore for any of them being already fleshed out. AOC, WAR, hell even WOW to an extent are all pre-MMO IPs.

SWG turned into shit Because the devs broke the game.
The lore and what-nots was fine but the devs decided to change crap that needed to not be chnaged.
You could have a mirror image of a licensed IP, but if the game mechanics suck donkey wang, no one is going to play.
Isnt SOE releasing an X-pack that caters to only jedis? I suppose thats okay, since everyone has a jedi now.

Update – so far the research has only identified a single comman denominator.. beer being consumed by someone… usually kanker.. sometimes the other person.. that lead I think is promising.. I will keep you informed as to my progress
