In case you’ve been waiting and waiting for that AoC beta invite that never came, I can tell you one way to get in for sure. Go get the $4.99 a month FilePlanet subscription and you can get get your beta key and download the client for access to the open beta starting May 1st. I’m not sure if there are other easy ways to guarentee a spot at this point but please comment if you know of other, cheaper ways for all of our viewers/listeners.

A few things you might like to know about the FilePlanet AoC Beta:
I noticed that as the night has progressed the download is getting a hell of a lot faster. I’m currently downloading at just under 6mb/s. I started in the afternoon and it was much slower. Nearly done.
Halfway there at 14 hours.
It took me around 11 hours to get the whole thing. What I didn’t anticipate is the installer requiring over twice the 12 gig download space to install the game! It reminds me of the Vanguard installation…*shiver*
10GB @ 27 hours…
…perhaps we shouldn’t have told everyone.
Damnit! I forgot the cardinal rule: Make sure you have already fully downloaded the beta client before telling others about it!
Oh well, I got mine and am now gleefully patching the hell out of it.
39 hours and I’m finally done. Yay!
It’s been installing for about an hour, looks like it’s about 60% done…
Then it sounds like I get to patch? Awesome.
