No, not Jesus — Jim. What should I play? This poll was promised in the upcoming Episode 56 podcast, but I thought I’d release it early. Tired of shelling out hard-earned cash for MMOs; tired of the AoC client crashing; and tired of following fickle friends from game to game; I’ve decided to take up a Free-to-Play MMO, and I’d like your input on what I should play. I’ve compiled a short list below. Please take a moment and vote for one as well as list a few reasons for your choice in the comments, or write in a candidate (please be serious, I’m pretty sure don’t want to play Strawberry Shortcake Online). Here are some facts/criteria you should know: I am far from an expert gamer; I don’t like overly complex games; I am a social player; I enjoyed CoX & AoC; I didn’t really care for WoW or UA; I’m not big on anime, but I’m open to any cool, fun, easy to play game; and last but not least, the game must be free indefinitely — not a trial and no upfront cost. Thanks for your help!

Im looking DAOC Origins. Problem is, im almost certain Mythic is going to bundle it with WAR to further inflate numbers.
I’d seriously play Star Wars Galaxies while SOE is still offering it for free this summer. A bunch of my old guild mates have jumped back in and, wow, now that we’ve gotten all the hate of the CU and NGE out of our systems, we can see that it’s a game that’s still light years (no pun intended) ahead of just about anything out there, especially for people who like crafting.
I think that Jim should play Progress Quest.
- It’s fantasy-based, which is the genre EVERYBODY likes and plays.
- He’s guaranteed to have something to report on for every “what we’ve been playing” segment going forward.
- He’ll probably level faster than all of us, even Mark.
- And he doesn’t really even have to play at all!
Everybody’s a winner.
Thanks for all of your feedback (except for the person who voted for “other’ but didn’t specify what game in the comments). I think I will try Requiem: Bloodymare to start just to play an new genre. I’ll keep you all apprised of my progress via the WWP segment of the podcast. Thanks again!
