You guys completely off base on DKP systems. They are 100% fair and do not allow for “unfair” or “bias” loot distribution. Unless you mean those that raid the most get the first shot at the loot.

The nameless dork is just as off base. The replies he got from the forums were valid and all he could say was non-related insults.

If you want to raid, great, DKP is your friend. Just because YOU think you deserve the loot more for your 1 time a week you raid versus the other dude that shows up 3 days a week doesn’t mean you do deserve it.

If you’ve ever raided in a completely /rand system you’d know how much better DKP is. And you wanna talk bias, talk about “loot council” distributed loot or better known as “buddy loot”.

Striaght up 0 sum DKP system is about as fair as you can get.

Thank gawd for Warhammer, don’t need DKP !!

You might want to get up off the floor, open that cranium of yours and pop your brain back in. That is unless you’re going for the babbling buffoon.

Your response here, as in the podcast, is unsubstantial. If you can’t afford a dictionary I’ll explain it for you. You can’t backup your argument that DKP is “bad” or “unfair”.

    Cheers.

wow.. derek, you are comparing apples and oranges… in a hard core guild, DKP or some such is needed… but it’s a hard core guild… let me repeat ‘HARD CORE’… a casual raiding guild may or maynot need to use such a system.. it’s a tracking system…
if you run an instance 5 times with the same group for an item you really want, and I’ve only ran that instance this last time as a replacement for a regular guy, who should get the item?

and now directed at all you buggers…
as for the “Shard” an item because of dkp… I’ve only ever seen one gulid do that… and that was because the guy begging for the item was talking about leaving for another guild and only running to leech gear.. if a guild does do that, do you really want to be in that guild?.. that’s like staying friends with some guy that kicks you in the sack for no reason…

anyway.. dkp isn’t evil.. if you are running with a good guild, the gear goes where it’s deserved.. be it rolling or bidding with dkp or even a list form… if you are in a group of loot whores, well, that’s just stupid with a prior..

and as for the ‘elitest’, on my old mage, I geared up with rep and heroic gear but still ran kara…I gained DKP for the runs.. I never got the loot drops I wanted… I ended up with the most dkp in the guild.. so over the course of 2 months I ran 16-20 runs.. learning runs.. where you die, and die and die… so it’s unfair that I got first pick if an Item I really wanted finnaly dropped once the instance was easy? or should I let the guy that is in lvl 65 greens get the item cuz he’s not willing to work on bettering his gear on his own?

anyway.. the dkp issue is fairly pointless once someone actually puts in some time with a guild.. 2 weeks is the normal trial period.. you know you won’t get gear in that time… but in time, you run with the same group and an item drops twice.. the highest DKP already got the item… they not getting it twice.. it works out if your loyal to the guild and the guild is fair.. if not, well you either don’t deserve the gear or the guild is crap… the system what ever it is has no real effect.. it’s just a system to track fairness…

and dumbass, no.. dkp is able to be as corrupt and unfair as any other system… it’s a human system… I ran a dkp system for a guild pre-BC… it’s VERY easy to cheat the system even on accident..

the truly most possibly ‘Fair’ system out there is “loot council” or as you like to call it “buddy loot”… but again, that requires a honest council… it also has the possiblity to be the most ‘unfair’ system….

example: forget to deduct points for a loot drop… forget to add points for attendence.. ect

    @dumbass

If you want to go on record that no one has ever been screwed over by a zero sum DKP system then so be it. “100% fair”…whatever.

Fact is this. Zero sum DKP is NOT the holy grail of loot distribution.

Back in March, this guy posted some decent arguments about it (and some possible solutions to it’s disadvantages).

I think as long as your guild leader (or whoever else in the guild happens to be in charge of the system) has a good grasp on how the system works and how to avoid it’s pitfalls then you’ll be fine…mostly. That doesn’t mean that it’s going to be 100% fair all the time. People are still going to get the shaft on occasion.

Let’s hope that other MMO (like WAR) will find ways to completely eliminate the need for systems like Loot Councils or DKP.

There was some talk in this episode of AoC working better with Vista. Might be of interest to point out that it’s still terrible under 32 bit Vista, but 64 bit Vista seems bulletproof. I wonder if your guy who hasn’t has trouble under Vista is running 64 bit? Or is otherwise just VERY lucky :)

Guess I’m very lucky! I’m running Windows Vista Business edition, but it’s only 32 bit. Maybe the Business part has something to do with it.

God, who knows? *Chuckle* There seems to me no rhyme or reason to the crashing mess that is AoC. The general rule of thumb is that 64 bit Vista runs a treat… but of course, there’s still the issue of all the missing and broken content, even if you don’t crash every 10 minutes. LOL. I’ve left you guys a voicemail too, BTW. Keep up the good work :)
