Not just no, but hell no … I’m totally over fucking World of Warcraft. Sorry to break your heart fanboi mark …

PS: That was a private email conversation between Jim and I. I’d appreciate it if you would stay out of our business! hehe ;)

    Thanks guys, you’re the best.

Now, Nerrollus, you of all people should know, if you wanted it to be private you should have sent it to male-at-channelmassive-dot-com. Otherwise, everyone gets it. The only two reasons I stay on as a board member are the whopping paychecks I get now that Channel Massive has sold out; and the ever-optimistic hope that I will get explicit photos to male-at — perhaps even from a female someday. Don’t worry, we “promise” not to blackmail you. ;)

Luckily in that photo you can’t see my birthmark that looks like Captain Crunch having sex with Beatrice Arthur from the Golden Girls. I still have plausible deniability.

Had I known that the male-at-channelmassive-dot-com address was still being watched by you instead of SexyGirl88 I would have sent it there.

WTF do you call my first comment? What part of “I’m totally over fucking World of Warcraft” isn’t constructive? Racist ass…

I’m looking forward to WoW. I’ve been kinda bored lately. I even went back to the dark side… I’m back on my carebear server Elune, playing my alliance 70 NE Rogue. Kinda fun the last few days. But the moment I get WOTLK I’m going back to Athras and level Oni the Mage to 80 asap. And… Somewhere in there I will create a Deathknight that is NOT a gnome. ^_^

    Here Here!

I too am anxiously awaiting the release! Besides Oni, I have 2 other real life friends who will be standing in line at midnight to get their copy. In fact one of them said he had taken the next day off from work to celebrate.

I’m looking forward to it for 3 reasons:

    1) What with all the Deathknights sure to be running around, I’ll have the option to run my 58 Priest to 80 with them instead of soloing.

    2) Dihard just made level 70 last week, so I finally caught up with everyone and can participate with the guild more now. Remember when Burning crusade Green drops were better than your old-world high end gear? Well I’m kind of hoping the same thing happens again and I’ll be able to experience with my guild.

    3) I’m also looking forward to playing my own Deathknight, but I’m going to wait and see how well or badly they are recieved.

Easy now, boys. We don’t want to stir up any undue wrath now, do we? Personally, I am protesting the new WOW expansion based solely on the name. I mean, really, Lich King? WTF!? I’ve seen more creative names scribbled on the bathroom stalls at the IRS. And what’s up with Deathknights?? Aren’t knights all about death? Is Blizzard trying to tell us that we’re stupid? What’s next, lifehealers and tankprotectors?! And then there are gnomes. In what way are Gnomes, death and knights related? I have seen some gnomes cleaning the horse barn, but out on a killing rampage….please. The only thing less frightening than a Gnome Deathknight is a ToddlerNinja! Actually, a ToddlerNinja might be more frightening! Peace!

Duuuuude, I just got Warhammer! Yes, my WoW account is still active and paid for (not sure why), but the only thing that would really drive me into the arms of the Leech King would be…

    1) More hero classes than just a death knight. Would it have killed them to make TWO?!
    2) Less monkey see, monkey-do game design.
    3) A new playable race that starts at level ONE, not SIXTY! (Yes, I know that Death Knight is not a race. :P )
    4) A new secksromancer class.

I once vacationed in Norway and found it quite beautiful, and the wonderful, gradual climate design of Northrend does look spectacular as expected. But not for now. I do miss our killer WoW guild– if you’re reading this and are a WoW player but not a part of the CM guild, by all means hunt them down! Terrific folks. Terrific folks who are into bloodletting.

    @ Daniel.

I seriously hope that is sarcasm about the Lich King name.

    Did you even play WC3?

  15. November 14, 2008 at 12:01 pm | Permalink

Noah, you will return to WoW … Warhammer kicks you in the face at first and it seems really fucking awesome. After about a month the bugs start getting to you and you realized how shitty it is.

I’m going to give them a few patch cycles and check it out later on.

  16. November 14, 2008 at 12:09 pm | Permalink

    @The Nameless One.

I seriously hope that your question was only rhetorical. I was quite
clearly pointing my obvious sarcasm at the Lich King name and the Death
    Knight appellation.

Yes, I have Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne Expansion.
(I’m guessing that’s what you are referring to by WC3) I’m not a Warcraft
or Blizzard hatter by any means. In fact, some of my all time favorite
games were the Original Warcraft RTS games. I also have an on again, off
again account with WOW which I periodically reactivate to give WOW a fair
shake. I never argue with success and I think Blizzard has appealed to the
LCD in MMO gaming in a spectacular fashion that can only be regarded as
genius. If collecting gear is the epitome of MMO gaming than WOW has easily
gained the top threshold in that area. I am currently not convinced that
spending 40 dollars on the Lich King (yes, yes, I remember the name from
Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne) Expansion is worthwhile, but I will
stand corrected if somebody can present a valid case that shows the enormous
value of the expansion. I do realize that many consider the Lich King story
line to be the best of the Warcraft mythology, but I was always left underwhelmed by it. I thought that it was decent, it just didn’t excite me that much. Thanks!

@ Nerrollus What bugs have you experienced in WarHammer that have made you think that it is so “shitty?” As I’ve mentioned previously, I am super cynical and critical about games and MMOs in particular, but I really have not experienced any game-breaking bugs while playing Warhammer. I have been getting killed frequently while trying to solo with my White Lion , but I wouldn’t call that a bug. I have occasionally experienced some temporary glitches in movement, but these have not been that bad and have never detracted from the game. By the way, I did try Eve online again and I liked it a little more than when I first bought the game, but I still find the interface to be too clunky for my tastes. It definitely looks a lot better than before and the game play is smoother, but as I’m playing the game, I start to feel like I’m back at work trying to analyze multiple databases, delegate work and repair critical weak areas in technology. I just wanted to thank you for the buddy key, it was fun to try and I wanted to like it as I am a huge sci-fi and space fan!

When Dihard says “work” you can easily replace that with the word “WOTLK”.

@Daniel – Nothing game breaking, it was just a ton of little things that added up to make the game look like shit to me. I was playing a Shadow Warrior or whatever that elf archer was. There were so many graphic and animation glitches with just my character I could go on for an hour listing them all.

In addition to that, I was very under whelmed by the character graphics. The skins looked awful to me. Especially the faces. The PQ’s were also fundamentally flawed. They were supposed to be this huge cool feature, but I was only ever to actually do 2 of them because there was never anyone around to do the PQ’s. I was playing on a heavy pop server and was keeping pretty good pace with the crowd. Standing around grinding on mobs waiting for more people to show up sucked. Way too much like EQ1 sitting around waiting on groups.

RvR was basically nonexistent. Everyone just wanted to grind scenarios all day long. You could run around and cap all the RvR stuff unopposed. MAYBE there was 1 guy running around behind you flipping things, but that’s not really all that fun.

AI in that game was awful too. Pet pathing got me killed so many times with my Squig Herder that I just stopped playing him. NPC’s that you were fighting would attack for awhile, then turn around and run back to their home base and reset their health for no apparent reason.

Over all, it just wasn’t very fun … It was just like every other MMO out there with a hell of a lot less polish. As I said, the “features” they were touting forever turned out to be a joke because they relied on groups of players that were never around. Whenever that pompous ass that developed the first MUD’s (can’t remember his name) said that he already played WAR, it’s called WoW was actually right.
