Everyone is unhappy with their favorite MMO these days and some feel vindicated…
Hate the playa…not the game.
“We’re starting to pay the price for the genre turning to a casual-friendly, solo-friendly, mass-appeal market. This is what happens when a lot of people make the concept of not needing to interact with others popular.”
“The problem here is the average MMO player has WoW-itis. All of us have reached level cap in some MMO or another and pondered the fastest way to get an alt through the same content to reach level cap.”
“Players, myself included, are like easily-frightened schools of fish, willing to go with the crowd and turn at a moment’s notice or the mere inkling of danger”.
“And so any new MMO is flooded with these players, who soon realize the new MMO is in fact not WoW, and rather than adapt to the new environment, try to force WoW-like gameplay into it.”

Baaaaaaaaah
The issue with MMOs is what i have been bitching about for the past few months now.
MMO seems to mean single player game anymore, and if its not, people complain that its too hard.
Forced grouping is a bullshit “feature” that shouldn’t never be revisited. Too many people just don’t have the time to sit around for hours and look for groups. Having some kind of interdependency on others for crafting and things are fine, but people still have to be able to adventure on their own.
I wish dev’s would get their head out of their asses and put out a few games that are skill based instead of level based. This gets people out of the grind and lets them focus more on the world and what’s going on other than getting that next level. They also need to get away from the whole, “end game is raiding the same dungeon five thousands times” bullcrap as well. Raiding, gear grinding, faction grinding, and any other kind of grinding should never be accepted as “end game.” There really should be no end game with a persistant world.
If people weren’t all focused on being level capped, they would be able to see other parts of the world. I remember playing games like Asheron’s Call, Pre-CU Starwars Galaxies, and UO and spending my time “seeing what’s around that next corner” instead of grinding out that next level so I can keep up with my friends. Skill based games you can be out with everyone else exploring the world. The things you enjoy doing a lot will decide what skills you increase over time.
In my not so humble opinion, UO and to a lesser extent Asheron’s Call and Pre-CU SWG are the only games to get it right. If UO did a major over haul on the graphics engine and put it in a 3D world like WoW or WAR I’d get a lifetime membership. I don’t think we’ll ever seen that next gen MMO until the current generation of dev’s stop trying to copy EverQuest and change things up a bit. That of course is going to be difficult because there are so many whiney bitches out there that HAVE to have that instant gradification. I think Michael Zenke got it right on the latest Common Sense Gamer podcast when he said WoW destroyed the MMORPG genre.

Thank you for contacting Warhammer Online Support.
Your constant attempts to inform us of gold spammers is obviously a blatant attempt to distract our attention from the fact that your are two timing us with that whore you lovingly call WOW. Our GMs have monitored your Armory status and we can only conclude that immediately after logging out of WAR after only playing a few minutes, you are NOT, in fact, going to bed as you continuously imply in your messages to us:
*** CS Ticket #3489 ***
Jason’s character Nagol is spamming me for gold over and over again. Please kick him out of the game before he out levels me. *yawn* Well, I think I’m going to call it a night getting sleepy.
Love, Mark
P.S. Noah’s botting again, char name is DewOrDeath

Based on your achievements and levelling in WOW we can only conclude that you are cheating on us. As such we are quietly removing your ability to run your 142 beloved mods as well as your ability to log out. If we could, we’d most likely break your ankles and strap you to a bed (with computer access) but the address you gave us appears to be false Mr. 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. My, aren’t we ambitious.
Is Wrath of the Crap King really that great Mr. Miller? Is it? Does it have Public Quests or compelling PVP scenarios? No, it doesn’t does it. We thought we had something special Mark. Something enduring, something built on trust and a mutual commitment (at a nice monthly cost) but apparently it was all a cheap charade.
Well you enjoy your whore WOW Mark. You just go right ahead. We’ll be right here, crying for the love that has been lost and the trust that has been betrayed.

Fuck dude, that’s spooky …
I think I’m going to pass this along to Mark Jacobs and find out if this is a rogue CS Rep like the GM that was cybering in AoC or normal business practice for EA-Mythic.
What am I saying, it’s EA-Mythic … If EA had their way they’d run a cattle prod up your ass every time you even though of anything without the EA brand plastered on the box.
