Time for some more videos of Cryptic Studios’ Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter in action! I spent a large part of my time with the Trickster Rogue class in the beta, and had to pull myself away to play the other classes I wasn’t initially as excited or intrigued to try. Frankly, I’ve never been interested in the classic sword-and-board set up. I didn’t understand why I felt that way and didn’t care to figure out– but you know where this is headed. The Guardian Fighter blew my mind with how fun and visceral a 3-foot-tall halfling fighter could be!
Sacrificing the ability to maneuver around the battlefield, the Guardian Fighter just raises his shield and takes the brunt of the attacks. It wouldn’t be nearly as fun and exciting if the combat animations weren’t so spot on. Raising your shield to hold back a flurry of orcish attacks is fun in itself, as you watch each hit rebound off of your defenses. I really hope the Great Sword Fighter is even more action packed, or I may be rolling a Guardian!

Last, but not least, I wanted to show off my dungeon run of the first group instance in the game, Cloaked Tower. Be amazed at my immense and terrifying skill as I’m one-shotted by a giant Ogre and am revived by leveling up:
