Hey guys, love the podcast, but I couldn’t help notice some hypocrisy throughout this episode.

You read out an e-mail deriding bloggers and forum users who complain about games they’ve barely played. You also review a Champions Online blog review and tear it apart because the reviewer has only played it for 20 hours. Then you go on throughout the podcast basically hammering Aion, which you guys have barely played and admittedly have no interest in.

What people like and dislike is entirely subjective, I get it. But if you’re willing to put your opinion out there for games that you have little knowledge of, you should really be willing to accept that others can have an opinion based on limited knowledge and first impressions as well. Deal with those impressions at face value rather than dismissing them out of hand because they haven’t played the game long enough to have an opinion.

Hahah… Funny you noticed that too– when I first saw the email, I wasn’t sure if Blameful was talking to us specifically or the entire internet (which, by extension, would ALSO include us).

It’s a big, cloudy mess… Mark did have time in the Aion beta (quantitatively how much, I’m unsure), so he has some merit to an opinion. I haven’t talked much about the game because I haven’t played it. And beyond that, I think all of us like to react and report on the general vibes folks have on the internet– what they write/say about games based on their own hours put in, not to mention actual news stories that come from developers and publishers. From those, we choose what to talk about, either for informative or entertaining reasons, and share our reactions, founded or unfounded. We’re not saying we’re experts, nor is anyone else who makes a WordPress account, but we still hope it’s fun. That’s my stance at least… Jason and Mark may speak to this on the next show. Or here if they’re bored. :)

I’m enjoying Aion. Our guild bailed on the high load server which was a difficult decision. I do have friends that stayed are are still dealing with long queues. nerfing the private stores didn’t work so much. I won’t call it soulless at all. In fact, I quite like the ambiance but it’s not unique or inventive. It’s an MMO for people who’ve tired of their “WOW” and want something similar in a new setting.

Just FYI – the Aion coverage on West Karana is from yours truly. *smile* Tipa is hosting some posts for me so that I can talk about games without feeling compelled to keep Mystic Worlds updated frequently. Maybe when you guys upgrade your site I can do a few guest posts too. Give me a buzz if/when you’d be interested.

Cool. I can do my picture ladden posts there and save my snark for here. hehe. Just kidding. I’ll be away from gaming for a couple of weeks. Doing the dreaded ‘out of town on business” bleh.
